RB Leipzig’s Dominik Szoboszlai has been whispered about for some time, emerging as one of the top targets for Newcastle United in the summer window after scouts were sent to watch the midfielder twice last month.
The Hungarian international scored to help Leipzig win the German Cup for the second year in a row, an event which got a lot of United supporters talking- but not just because of the goal.

After his team’s victory, Szoboszlai was videoed next to the Eintracht Frankfurt supporters showing off his medal. Naturally, the fans weren’t happy and as one angrily shouted abuse at him, the attacking midfielder gloated by kissing his medal.
The video has been lauded by Newcastle fans, with many stating his behaviour will fit with the squad perfectly. “You can just tell he wants to be one of Eddie’s Mags. Him & Murphy are going to be besties,” said one fan, while another said: “He’ll fit right in with Jacob Murphy and the rest of Eddie Howe’s Mags.”

For instance when he cheekily waved at a Southampton player after he was shown a red card, or when he pointed at an imaginary watch amid time-wasting accusations.
And it’s only a matter of time until Newcastle finds out if the feeling is mutual. According to reports, Szoboszlai is open to leaving the German side this summer with the Toon thought to be amongst the favourites after the 22-year-old likes an Instagram post that said: “Newcastle United are ONE win away from Champions League qualification.”
Eddie Howe isn’t the only one interested however. Liverpool are also in the running to nab Szoboszlai, but it seems United fans have their hearts set on the midfielder.
