Newcastle United are reportedly involved in a four-way transfer battle for Danish star Gustav Isaksen.

The 21-year-old winger has been a regular feature in the Midtjylland lineup over the last two seasons but has hit a rich vein of form during the current campaign.  Isaksen has scored four goals and provided one assist during his side’s league campaign and has taken to life in the Europa League with ease.

The Denmark Under-21 International has found the net in home and away group stages meetings with Italian giants Lazio, as well as grabbing a goal in Midtjylland’s 2-2 home draw with Dutch side Feyenoord.  The Danes now head into the final matchday of the group stage at the bottom of the Group F table - but they know a home win against Sturm Graz coupled with anything other than a Feyenoord home win against Lazio would see them progress into the knockout stages.

Isaksen’s form has not gone unnoticed with Italian outlet CalcioMercato suggesting AC Milan ‘like the player a lot’ but also suggest the San Siro club face competition for his signature with Newcastle, Arsenal and West Ham United also having the player ‘in their sights’.

A fee of around £17m has been suggested for a player that reportedly attracted interest from Manchester City and Fiorentina over the last year and Midtjylland sporting director Ove Pedersen confirming an offer had already been rejected.  Speaking recently he said: “We have already said no to the 15 million offered by a Premier club at the end of the last transfer market as the player (Isaksen) is worth more.”

The Danish club are said to be under no pressure to sell Isaksen after they they sold highly-rated midfielder Raphael Onyedika to Belgian side Club Brugge in a £9m deal in the final days of the summer transfer window.
