Newcastle United handed James Maddison ‘boost’ as new signing backed to make ‘impact’

All the latest Newcastle United transfer news and rumours as Eddie Howe’s men prepare to face Brentford.

Newcastle United return to action this weekend when they face Brentford at St James’ Park.

The Magpies have enjoyed a solid start to the season so far, and they picked up a much-needed win amid one too many draws over the weekend, making easy work of Fulham‘s ten men.

Eddie Howe’s side have been in need of a clinical edge, and they showed it at Craven Cottage, even if life was made easier by the early sending off.

Howe will want to see more of that against Brentford this weekend, but in the meantime, we have rounded up all the latest transfer news and rumours surrounding St James’ Park.

Kuol backed

New Newcastle signing Garang Kuol has been backed to make a quick impact at St James’ Park following his move from the Central Coast Mariners.

Journalist Dean Jones told GiveMeSport: “It definitely seems like they have got their eye on this level of talent at the moment.

“I haven’t seen him personally, but I have spoken to people who have seen him, and they think he is the sort of player that will quickly make an impact in the Premier League.”

Kuol was chased by a number of European clubs, but the Magpies won the race, and it looks as though have landed an exciting talent.

Maddison boost

Newcastle could finally get their chance to sign Leicester City star James Maddison if the midfielder doesn’t get selected for the World Cup.

That’s according to Ross Gregory, who told NUFC Matters: “He’s not going to go to the World Cup, I don’t think. I can’t see him going to the World Cup at all.

“That might set a rabbit off with him, he might start pressing for a move elsewhere – but if Maddison becomes available for transfer, Newcastle aren’t going to be the only ones who are in for him.”
