'My brother' - Newcastle United 'machine' spotted helping community after returning to former home

Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton has been back in Brazil during the off season.

After missing out on the Brazil World Cup squad, Newcastle United midfielder Joelinton has returned to his home country to help out in the community.

The 29-year-old was celebrating his wife, Thays Gondim’s, birthday over the weekend. But that didn’t stop him getting his football fix while back in Recife as he was a special guest at the Parvi League’s end-of-season event.

The Parvi League is described as ‘the biggest intercollegiate championship in Brazil’ with over 17 participating schools.

The overall title winners were Damas 26, who ended Marista Sao Luis’ four consecutive title streak by beating them 6-0 in the final. The winners also received a Newcastle United shirt signed by Joelinton himself.

Brazilian musician Carlos Supernova shared a photo of Joelinton at the Parvi League event on Instagram.

He wrote: “Now Parvi League has grown big, the machine came here to show off. Thanks for the support, my brother @Joelinton34.”

Joelinton shared the image along with the comment: “Top structure.”

Joelinton was in the provisional Brazil squad ahead of the World Cup but didn’t make the final cut. Newcastle captain Bruno Guimaraes is currently in North America representing his nation.

Joelinton will be part of Newcastle’s returning group for pre-season training at The KNOX on July 13, while Guimaraes will be given extra time off to recover after the tournament.
