Official statement confirms manager sacking as former Newcastle United captain agrees to take over
West Ham United are set to appoint a former Newcastle United captain as their new manager.
Former Newcastle United captain Scott Parker has agreed to become the new manager of West Ham United.
The Hammers have parted ways with Nuno Espirito Santo after back-to-back home defeats to Southampton and West Bromwich Albion saw the club drop to eighth in the Championship table.
Espirito Santo remained in charge despite relegation from the Premier League last week and had been tasked with achieving an immediate return. But 13 games in, West Ham are four points off the automatic promotion spots.

Nuno Espirito Santo sacked by West Ham
“West Ham United can confirm that men’s first-team Head Coach Nuno Espírito Santo has left his position with immediate effect,” a club statement read on Tuesday morning.
“Following a thorough review of the start to the EFL Championship season, the Board of Directors believe that a change is necessary at this time in order to ensure that the Club’s objectives and expectations remain on track.
“Assistant Head Coach Rui Pedro Silva and Goalkeeper Coach Rui Barbosa have also departed.
“West Ham United would like to thank Nuno, Rui and Rui for their hard work and commitment during their time at the Club, and wish them all the very best for the future.
“The process of recruiting a new Head Coach is already underway.
“Mark Noble, Steve Potts and Gerard Prenderville will take temporary charge of squad preparations ahead of tomorrow evening’s EFL Championship fixture at Cardiff City, and the Club will make no further comment until the appointment of the new Head Coach is confirmed.”
Former Newcastle United captain set to take over at West Ham
And West Ham have wasted no time in sourcing Espirito Santo’s replacement, with Parker expected to be officially appointed in the coming days.
The 46-year-old, who previously captained West Ham and won multiple player of the year awards during a four-year spell, has been out of work since leaving Burnley at the end of last season.
Parker won promotion to the Premier League with the Clarets, and has also achieved the same feat at Fulham and AFC Bournemouth.
