Statement released - Newcastle United confirm commercial partner after David Hopkinson teases deal
Newcastle United have enjoyed a fruitful partnership with BetMGM since 2023.
Newcastle United have renewed a multi-year partnership with leading sports betting brand BetMGM.
A stronger UK foothold in recent years has seen the US-based gambling and entertainment firm partner with the Magpies since 2023. BetMGM also sponsor the Premier League Darts - once again won by teenage prodigy Luke Littler earlier this year.
Match-going fans will remember the half-time shows at St James’ Park last season. Supporters could attempt to win a Las Vegas trip by scoring within a narrow target from the halfway line.
Toon CEO David Hopkinson hinted at a new commercial deal being in the pipeline last week. He has consistently stressed the importance of boosting Newcastle’s revenues to close the gap on the established elite.
A club statement has confirmed an extension of the BetMGM partnership. The announcement read: “Newcastle United and LeoVegas Group have signed a new multi-year deal to extend the club’s thriving commercial partnership with leading sports betting and entertainment brand, BetMGM.
“The renewed agreement as Newcastle United’s Official UK and European Betting Partner builds on a shared ambition to deliver money-can’t-buy experiences that place fans at the centre of the action. BetMGM launched in the UK in 2023 and has committed itself to delivering exceptional moments for supporters across the community since the partnership was established three years ago.
“The brand recently brought fans closer to the team through activations ranging from the Flight of the Mags content, which pitted fans against first-team stars, club legends, and professional darts players, to ticket giveaways and exclusive VIP matchday hospitality experiences.
“This season, BetMGM will once again bring its signature Las Vegas energy to St. James’ Park, beginning with the return of the fan-favourite BetMGM Half-Time Challenge at the upcoming fixture against Hull City, offering fans the chance to win a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Las Vegas.”
Commenting on the extended agreement, Newcastle United’s Chief Revenue Officer, Dave O’Connor said: “Our partnership with BetMGM has become a real favourite amongst our supporters over the last three seasons, consistently delivering memorable, fan-first experiences and generating viral moments that have driven our marketing ambitions.
“Renewing our partnership is testament to the strong trust and shared success we’ve built together. It reinforces our relentless ambition to build a powerful, global commercial portfolio, partnering with best-in-class brands across diverse sectors.”
LeoVegas Group Managing Director UK&I, Andy Wright, added: “Newcastle United's ambition matches our own, and that shared drive is what's made this partnership so natural from the start.
“Supporters have fully embraced the BetMGM brand and moments like the Half-Time Challenge is exactly why we wanted to extend our commitment. As we continue to grow, partnering with a club that shares our appetite to get better every year is exactly where we want to be - and we're looking forward to bringing even more of that signature Las Vegas energy to St. James' Park this season and beyond."
