Matthias Jaissle to receive £248m injury boost at Newcastle United during three-week break

Tino Livramento is the latest injury casualty but Newcastle United should be in better nick following the international break.

Newcastle United should have eight players returning to action following the international break.

Matthias Jaissle was forced to field a weakened - and youthful - side as the Magpies edged out Hull City yesterday. Long-term absentees include Dan Burn and Joelinton - yet to kick a ball all season - and Will Osula.

All three are hopeful of returning during the extended three-week lay-off. Premier League experience is key and the trio will guarantee exactly that when they are available for selection.

Likewise, new recruits Amar Dedic and Nico Gonzalez should also be in contention. The pair were cited as saving Newcastle’s window but Jaissle was without both against Hull.

Dedic aggravated a hamstring strain that almost kept him out of the 4-1 defeat to Leeds United last Monday. As for Gonzalez, he missed out due to concussion protocols and can fully adjust to his new surroundings during the break.

Newcastle can also expect Jacob Ramsey back in training after he picked up a thigh problem. Unfortunately, Anthony Elanga - who enjoyed a bright start to the season - will not return once the Premier League resumes.

Jaissle is still waiting on an update for Tino Livramento, who is once again sidelined. He was a surprise omission for the 2-1 win against Hull as, just 24 hours earlier, Thomas Tuchel named him in his England squad.

"Amar will not be able to play on Saturday,” Jaissle told reporters before the Hull clash. “It will be a young midfield. JJ (Ramsey) is injured as well, but we trust them. It was just unlucky (for Gonzalez), it was not a big hit but the hit was strong enough and precise enough to knock him out.

“Like I said also in the post-match press conference, we need to be smart, we have the responsibility to follow the protocol from the league, which I really think it's so good that we are so advanced in that approach.

"He's missing Saturday's match, but he's feeling much better. He's fine, usually he could train, he can progress, but again, we take that protocol seriously. Therefore he will be out."
