A number of EFL and Scottish clubs were believed to have shown an interest in taking Kuol on loan after United manager Eddie Howe indicated the youngster’s development would be aided by a temporary move away from the North East - and Hearts won the race for his signature when he completed a move to the Scottish capital earlier this week.

Once official confirmation of the deal was released, Kuol took to his Instagram account to react to his move from Tyneside to Tynecastle. In the post he said: “The journey begins.
