The Magpies had high hopes for a top 10 finish when Eddie Howe took over earlier this season but now look set to stay around 14th in the Premier League as this season draws to a close.

Newcastle have just two matches left of this turbulent year of football which has seen new ownership, new management and a new pool of players.

After Howe helped claw the Magpies back from what looked like certain relegation, the former Bournemouth manager will also hope to build on what has been achieved this season and create a side that can regularly compete for places in Europe in the future.

Newcastle come into this fixture off the back of a 5-0 defeat against Manchester City but will hope to end the 2021/22 season on a high as they take on Arsenal and Burnley.

Their opponents for this fixture will also come into the match after suffering a defeat, having lost 3-0 to their north London rivals Tottenham, which saw them lose precious ground in the race for a top four finish.

Arsenal now have two more matches to secure UEFA Champions League football for next season - and the race with Spurs for that precious fourth spot looks set to go down to the wire.
