It seems like it was just yesterday that kids were off for the Christmas holidays, but already February half-term is fast approaching.

Schools in Newcastle will be breaking up for a week from Monday 21 February to Friday 25 February, with pupils returning on Monday, 28 February.

Kids will be looking for plenty of fun activities to do over the holidays, so here are some ideas for things to do.

Life Science Centre

Complete with an indoor play area for children, and a cafe suitable for everybody, the Life Science Centre appears to be the ultimate day out, for all ages. With interactive areas dotted around the centre, you can be educated whilst having fun.

They do state that Covid-19 measures are still in place, so take masks and the usual Covid-related equipment to be safe.

The nearest car park is the Times Square Car Park.

Opening times: Monday - Sunday: 10:00am - 5:00pm (recommended last entry: 3:00pm). On weekdays during term term, between 10:00am - 2:00pm, there may be school groups visiting the science centre.

Mr Mulligans Space Golf

Kitted out with three nine-hole courses, each space themed and different from the last, it’s a sure hit with the kids, and adults too! Beamish Ice Skating

Masks but be worn inside, but outside includes the ice skating, with a range of on-ice objects fun for all ages.

Prices: £6 for children (up to 16 years)/ £6.50 for adults, for at least a 20 minute session. Tickets include skate hire. Special offer: For every full paying adult, one child skates free of charge.

Newcastle United Stadium Tour

From walking down the tunnel, to sitting in Eddie Howe’s seat, this immersive experience is fun for all.

You can see the trophies the club has won over the years, and learn about the rich history of the club.

Stephenson Steam Railway

During the February half-term, Thursday and Sunday looks great fun, with heritage train rides available. At just £4 a ticket it looks great fun.

The cafe is closed, so pack food and take advantage of the many picnic tables available.

Let’s get back to basics with a simple park visit. With parking onsite, as well as a cafe and toilets, it’s a perfect day out for the family. A boating lake and the chance to see some beautiful wildlife, it’ll be a day long in the memory for everyone.

Inflate Space Newcastle

Located in the same place as Clip ‘N Climb, you could spent the majority of the half term here!
