The Gateshead Beer and Music Festival is coming around soon, and it is set to be a weekend to remember.

The festival first took place in 2010 and showcases beers and ciders from all around.

The festival has been organised and hosted since the very beginning by a team of volunteers from Gateshead Rugby Club, a community orientated rugby club in Low Fell.

Here’s all you need to know about the 12th Gateshead Beer and Music Festival, what you can expect to see there and how you can get tickets.

When is the festival?

The 2022 festival is set to take place from Friday 29 April to Sunday 1 May. Drinks will be available throughout the weekend, and there will also be live music to enjoy with your drinks.

How can I get tickets?

Day and weekend tickets are available for the festival, meaning that you are free to choose how much or how little time you want to spend at the event.

Day tickets are priced at £14 for 29 April and £16 for 30 April and 1 May.

Weekend tickets, which will grant you access to all three days of the festival, cost £40.

All tickets are available to purchase through the Gateshead Beer and Music Festival website.

What Food and Drink is available at the festival?

As well as the various types of premium beer and lager, the festival will also have a selection of gins and cocktails, with Purple Rain and Strawberry Daiquiri amongst the cocktail selection.

A range of food will also be able to purchase including paella, pizza, kebabs, and wraps.

You can also grab a crepe, if you need to satisfy your sweet tooth.

On Friday, the festival plays host to the Society of Independent Brewers (SIBA) North East regional competition.

A spokesperson for the festival said: “The competition features over 120 of the best ales of all types from local North East and Yorkshire brewers.

“The competition was held at the festival for the first time in 2019 and is returning once again as the guest judges look to be wowed by the range of ales on offer!

“The winners from the regional competition go on to compete for the big prizes at the national competition, BeerX.”

What music will be played?

Across the weekend, there is a packed schedule of live acts set to perform. Starting at around 1pm each day and playing on throughout the afternoon and evening, you’ll not be short of live entertainment no matter which day you visit the festival.

The final act on Friday is Queen cover band ‘We Are Champion, on Saturday its local covers band V12 and closing the festival is Killers tribute act The Kopycat Killers
