This year people across the nation will be given two extra days off to commemorate Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.

When is the Jubilee bank holiday?

The bank holiday dates for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee are Thursday 2 June and Friday 3 June, giving some a four day long weekend.

What is the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee?

The Platinum Jubilee is an event that will commemorate The Queen being on the throne for 70 years.

Queen Elizabeth II is the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.

What events are happening in Newcastle?

Newcastle City Council events

Newcastle City Council have announced that they have plans to host celebrations across the area, however they have yet to announce the celebrations: “We’re calling out to everyone across Kenton and Newcastle to come and join in with the celebrations the Council are planning to hold.”

They have also said that people can apply to host their own street parties via their Your Local Services website, or by calling 0191 278 78 78.

St John’s Church is organising a free outdoor community party in Kingston park.

The event aims to bring people of all ages, and backgrounds together. The event will have rides, live music, food and refreshments.

There will also be fun activities for the whole family to enjoy such as a community art project creating a lasting artwork to commemorate the occasion, a drum circle, pony rides and a Jubilee cake competition by the local Primary School.

Hexham Celebrates: Music for the Queen’s Jubilee

Price: £15, £5 students and under 18’s

For those able to go further afield for their celebrations Hexham Abbey will host a special evening with Sir Brendn Foster as a special guest.

The event is organised by The Rotary Club of Hexham, and doors are scheduled to open at 6pm.

All the proceeds from ticket sales will be evenly distributed between the British Red Cross, and The Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme.

Seaton Sluice Jubilee family Fun Day

This family fun day caters to all ages. The organisers hope to give families a fun day free of expense so everyone can enjoy.

There will be bouncy castles, climbing wall frames, a magician, balloon man, stalls, sports, bingo, food and bring your own picnic.

The organisers hope that people will be dressed in red, white and blue. The village will have bunting and flags flying.

The event will take place Saturday 4 June.

United Response

To celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee, national disability charity United Response will be hosting six community celebration events at their services in Devon, Richmond, Kent, York, Easingwold and North Tyneside.

The events will be packed with fun, food, entertainment, and all are welcome.

The event will be held on Friday 3 June. The event is open to the public and no booking is required.

FoDW Jubilee Picnic

This group looks after the local area of woodland and will be hosting a picnic open to local residents to commemorate the Platinum Jubilee.

The event will be held on Friday 3 June.
