The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be celebrated this week.

With two extra days off this week people are expected to gather and join in the celebrations.

Street parties are one of the most common ways events like this have been celebrated throughout history, with communities coming together bringing food and drink.

As well as the traditional street parties and other organised events, over 2,800 Platinum Jubilee beacons will be lit around the world in celebration of the Queen’s 70-year reign.

So, what street parties are happening across Newcastle?

Here’s everything you need to know about the upcoming celebrations.

When is the Jubilee weekend?

The official date of the Platinum Jubilee was 6 February, however, celebrations were delayed until June in the hopes of people being able to enjoy the bank holiday in nicer weather.

People across the country will have Thursday 2 June, and Friday 3 June off as a bank holiday to get a kick start on the celebrations.

What street party events are planned in Newcastle?

Harton Village Jubilee Street Party

The businesses and people of Harton village will host a street party, in honour of the Queen on her Platinum Jubilee, which aims to raise money for four local charities. There will be some table stalls at The Vigilant Pub, and family games at The Old Ship.

The charities are:

  • Cancer Connections
  • Charlie & Carter Foundation
  • The Glen Corner Trust
  • Chloe & Liam together forever trust

The party will run from 2pm to 6pm on Thursday 2 June.

Eshwin Hall Queen’s Jubilee Street Party

Price: £2

This Street Party is scheduled to take place from 2pm on Friday 3 June.

All are welcome and encouraged to bring their own food and drinks. There will be refreshments available included in the ticket price, as well as a raffle ticket to be in with the chance of winning the Jubilee Hamper.

Soho’s Jubilee Street Party

Price: (starting from) £24 + Booking Fee

The event will run from 12pm to 11pm on Thursday 2 June.

Included in this event will be Royal Decor, Queen Elizabeth Masks, Happy Hour prices, and much more.

The resident DJ’s will be playing the best of British music all day, afternoon and long into the evening.

Platinum Jubilee Street Party

Boldon Community Group will be hosting a street party to celebrate the Queen’s platinum Jubilee for locals.

The event will run from 12pm to 5pm on Saturday 4 June, and will have a range of activities including: a bouncy castle, karaoke and family challenges.

Popular Newcastle establishment Akenside Traders will have events on every day of the Jubilee weekend with special offers including: a free Chambord Royale for every pre-booked brunch.
