Dancefloor hit-maker Katy B and Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough have been added to the star-studded line-up for the launch of Northern Pride next month.

Newcastle is finally hosting UK Pride this year after being awarded the title back in 2018 and seeing previous events cancelled due to the pandemic.

The weekend's celebrations will run from Friday, July 22 to Sunday, July 24 with a festival on the Town Moor.

Friday's launch event will see the celebrations spring into action with an impressive line-up.

'Katy On A Mission' singer Katy B will also sing and Radio 1 presenter Dean McCullough will provide the hits late into the night on the decks.

The launch night event will start at 5:30 pm and last until 10 pm. Tickets are available from £18 here.

Across the weekend, Joe McElderry, Mel C, Karen Harding, Adele Roberts and Choriza May will also make appearances.

Jenny Dewsnap, Co-Chair of the UK Pride Organisers Network, has spoken of her excitement for the event to be held in Newcastle.

She said: "We were impressed with Northern Pride’s bid way back in 2018 and, while the pandemic put a hold on their plans, it was fantastic to see them host virtual festivals in its place to bring the community together online.

“It’s shaping up to be a really exciting programme, with something for all ages to enjoy, and we can’t wait to see their plans come to fruition.”
