A 47-year-old man had been leaving Switch on Scotswood Road when he was approached by a man he did not know.

The attacker then punched the victim and left the scene.

The victim suffered swelling and bruising to the left cheek and was taken to hospital where it was later established he had broken his jaw.

An investigation was launched and officers from Northumbria Police have already carried out a number of enquiries, including a review of CCTV.

Today they have issued a description of two males who were in the area at the time and could have information which can assist.
