Ant and Dec have heaped praise on their fellow Geordie Cheryl after seeing her perform on-stage in the West End.

The Newcastle-born duo watched the former Girls Aloud singer, 39, in 2:22 A Ghost Story at the Lyric Theatre in London’s West End earlier this week.

Ant took to Twitter after the show and wrote: “Huge congratulations to @CherylOfficial and the rest of the cast of @222aghoststory. I was jumping out my skin. Loved it though. So proud of our fellow Geordie. She was fantastic!! A x”

Fans also took to social media to share their thoughts, with one writing “icons only” while sharing a photo of the three during Ant & Dec’s hilarious ‘Get Out Of Me Ear’ segment Cheryl took part in a few years ago on Saturday Night Takeaway.

Another user wrote: “Yes, a huge congratulations to Cheryl. She was fantastic, I agree."

Cheryl made her London West End debut in February and was recently supported by bandmates Nadine Coyle, Kimberley Walsh and Nicola Roberts.

Kimberley told The Mirror: "I think this is the perfect time for Cheryl to have moved into acting. She was amazing. I am so proud of her. This could open the doors to a whole new career.

"She is really talented, so there is no reason she can’t go on to have some huge acting roles."

She plays the part of Jenny, a mum who believes her house is haunted.

Ant and Dec have been friends with Cheryl for years, and they took dancing lessons at the same school as the former X Factor judge.

The trio have been spotted together on a number of occasions in the past and even posed for photos.

In one particular snap, they took a picture with a smiling fan who stopped them in the streets of their hometown.

Cheryl captioned the snap: “Me and my two faves @antanddecofficial and a lovely lady we met on the street in Newcastle today.”

The singer attended Ant and Dec’s joint 40th birthday party alongside other celebrity guests at the Kensington Roof Gardens.
