Leeds United handed boost ahead of Newcastle United clash as £30m signing a major doubt

Newcastle United injuries: Amar Dedic is a doubt for Monday’s trip to Leeds United.

Newcastle United right-back Amar Dedic is a doubt for Monday’s trip to Leeds United (8pm kick-off).

The 24-year-old summer signing was forced off at half-time with a hamstring in Tuesday night’s 1-0 win at Millwall.

Dedic has been one of Newcastle’s top performers so far this season with three assists to his name, more than any other player in the squad.

When asked if Dedic could be involved against Leeds, Matthias Jaissle said: “I treat these things really confidentially. I hope my staff too, that nothing comes out.

“Because first of all, it's about the player and it's about his health. But what I said already after Millwall, it doesn't look too serious.”

Newcastle United’s right-back alternatives

Dedic’s injury could see Tino Livramento return to the starting line-up for the first time since April, but Jaissle admitted Lewis Miley at right-back is ‘also an option’.

Livramento came off the bench to replace Dedic and play his first minutes of the season at Millwall.

“I'm happy for him that he got now 45 minutes on a high level against a strong opponent in difficult circumstances playing there in Millwall,” Jaissle added. “That makes us proud to see him already on a high level, it's never easy coming back from a long-term injury then performing already mature whilst physically already on a good level.

“I'm also satisfied and happy that he was dealing with the 45 minutes really good, he responded well. It means also our performance department did an excellent job.”

In addition to Dedic, Newcastle are already without Joelinton, Dan Burn, William Osula and Ewen Jaouen due to injury.
