Revenge is on the minds of Newcastle United fans ahead of the visit of Manchester United this weekend. Disappointment after the Red Devils beat the Magpies at Wembley last month still lingers in the air on Tyneside, despite back-to-back Premier League wins after that clash. Before Eddie Howe and his side try and pull one back against Erik ten Hag this weekend, here are the latest transfer rumours from Newcastle.

Veiga update

The future of Gabri Veiga looks set to be one of this summer's biggest transfer stories as rumours regarding the Celta Vigo midfielder's future continue to swirl. The Spaniard looks set to leave the club with a £35 million release clause well within the reach of Premier League clubs that could lure the 20-year-old with European football.

Newcastle were one of the sides rumoured to be keeping a close eye on Veiga with their financial power attractive to the player. However, Marca report that Manchester City are now 'favourites' to land Veiga's signature and outmuscle The Magpies.

Maguire urged to be 'clever' with Newcastle transfer

Former Premier League defender and Newcastle United star Jose Enrique has urged Harry Maguire to be 'clever' when thinking about his future. The Red Devils centre-back has been out-of-favour this season with Raphael Varane and Lisandro Martinez favourites under the Erik ten Hag regime.

It has led to calls for the England international to seek new pastures this summer to get himself off the bench and playing regular football. Enrique has added his voice to those calls after Maguire was linked with Newcastle United earlier this month.

Enrique took to Twitter and said: "He is a good player but is true that if he is clever he should leave United and be starting somewhere else in the summer."
