Newcastle United turned down Matias Fernandez-Pardo request before Everton defeat
Matias Fernandez-Pardo has missed Newcastle United’s last three matches due to illness.
Matias Fernandez-Pardo is expected to return to Newcastle United’s squad for their Premier League trip to Fulham on Saturday.
The Magpies’ £51million summer signing suffered from illness during the recent defeat to Aston Villa, which forced him to be withdrawn near the hour mark. And he hasn’t featured since.
The 21-year-old has missed the last three matches over eight days, including the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace and the back-to-back defeats to Everton, but is on course to make his return this weekend.

“He was sick with a heavy virus,” Matthias Jaissle said after Monday’s 1-0 defeat to the Toffees,. “He was training yesterday for the first time, but he was, in our perspective, not physically ready to be a part of the squad [v Everton].
Matias Fernandez-Pardo wanted to play against Everton
As per the Daily Mail, Fernandez-Pardo wanted to be included in the matchday squad on Monday night but, as confirmed by Jaissle, wasn’t considered physically ready.
But with a further four days of training under his belt, the Belgian is expected to travel to Craven Cottage, where Jaissle will face a decision on whether to include him in his starting line-up or use him from the bench.
Fernandez-Pardo had been starting as Newcastle’s central striker before moving out to the right wing against Villa.
“First of all, you need to also know that during the match, he wasn’t feeling 100% well,” Jaissle said after the game. “He has a sickness feeling, so we also need to consider that.
“But in general, especially in the first 30 minutes, he used his strengths on the wing so this is an element we can use more often for sure.”
