Newcastle United pair ruled out v Everton after Matthias Jaissle update

Newcastle United team news for their Carabao Cup last 16 away to Everton.

Newcastle United remain without Matias Fernandez-Pardo and Lewis Miley for their Carabao Cup last-16 tie at Everton.

The pair missed the 2-0 win at Crystal Palace in the Premier League on Sunday, with Fernandez-Pardo ill and Miley out with a glute issue.

And the visit to the Hill Dickinson four days later has come too soon for the duo.

Speaking at his pre-match press conference, Matthias Jaissle said: “These two players are still doubtful, there are question marks if they can make it, so we need to see step-by-step.

“There are still two days to decide if they're able to be in the squad or not, so with both of them, we don't want to take any additional risk. Hopefully they're getting back soon.”

Newcastle United confirmed starting XI v Everton

Jaissle has made just a single change from the victory at Selhurst Park as Jacob Ramsey comes in for Joelinton in midfield.

The Newcastle head coach vowed to go “all in” against Everton, resulting in just one change.

“Due to the history now from the club in that competition, I have the same approach to play with the best possible line-up,” Jaissle said. “This is clear.

“I heard now we're getting huge support, again, in an away match, really special, during a week having [nearly] 8,000 fans with us, taking the journey to support us.

“That's something which shows the importance about that competition, and we will for sure also be aligned with that and go all in.”

The winner of tonight’s tie will visit League Two side Fleetwood Town in the quarter-finals.
