The official reason Matias Fernandez-Pardo is out for Newcastle United at Crystal Palace

Crystal Palace v Newcastle United: The Newcastle players have arrived at Selhurst Park for Sunday’s Premier League clash.

Newcastle United have been boosted by the returns of two players from injury as they prepare to face Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park on Sunday.

Jacob Ramsey and Anthony Elanga have not been seen in action since Newcastle’s 2-2 draw against AFC Bournemouth last month. But the pair are back in the matchday squad after missing the last five matches in all competitions.

Both Ramsey and Elanga return on the bench while Amar Dedic, who has been out of the starting line-up since the 4-1 defeat at Leeds United due to injury, returns at right-back. Dedic is one of five changes made by Jaissle at Selhurst Park, with William Osula also starting for the first time since the opening weekend against Liverpool.

Dan Burn and Fabian Schar are also in from the start for the first time in the Premier League this season as Sven Botman and Malick Thiaw drop to the bench. Jacob Murphy returns on the right wing.

Matias Fernandez-Pardo misses out due to illness while Lewis Miley also drops out of the squad.

Jaissle explained Fernandez-Pardo’s potential absence ahead of the trip to Selhurst Park.

“Matias still has some issues health-wise, so he can only train partially,” Jaissle said, with the forward struggling with illness.

No official reason has been given for Miley’s absence from the side but the midfielder is thought to have picked up a knock.

Newcastle will be looking to bounce back from successive Premier League defeats while Palace need a reaction from last weekend’s 5-0 thrashing at rivals Brighton & Hove Albion. As such, it’s shaping up to be an interesting encounter between two teams and managers facing increasing scrutiny.

Palace head coach Pierre Sage admitted he wasn’t sure whether he would be in charge for the Newcastle match following the defeat at Brighton but remains in the hot seat for the time being. Meanwhile, Newcastle boss Jaissle has found his tactics criticised externally in recent weeks but retains the support of the key decision-makers at the club.
