Newcastle United have already agreed long-term deal as Manchester United plot 2026 transfer

Newcastle United handed Lewis Hall a new contract after he attracted interest from Manchester United in the summer.

Manchester United will reportedly revisit a move for Newcastle United left-back Lewis Hall next summer.

The Red Devils contacted Newcastle regarding a potential deal during the summer transfer window but were told in no uncertain terms that the 22-year-old was not for sale.

The Magpies sold Anthony Gordon, Sandro Tonali and Bruno Guimaraes but drew the line at Hall before rewarding the England international with a new five-year contract last month.

However, according to the i Paper, that won’t deter Michael Carrick’s side, who remain seriously interested in Hall despite Newcastle’s stance.

Man United hope their pursuit of Hall follows a similar pattern to their move for Carlos Baleba, having seen a bid for the midfielder rejected last year before signing him this summer for £70million.

Hall is under contract at St James’ Park until 2031, putting Newcastle in a strong position should they receive any approaches.

Responding to Man United’s reported interest, Hall recently told The Gazette: “I guess whenever you're linked with another team, you know that you're doing something right. I guess it's just a credit to your own performances and how you are as a player, how you are as a person. So I took that as a positive.

“At the same time, I knew how much I loved playing here, and since the manager came in, I knew the ambitions and what we wanted to achieve. After not many conversations, not many training sessions, I knew that the manager was going to be really good for this club.

“And I knew that as a team, bringing in new players and increasing the squad was really important. So it (the contract) was a no-brainer to sign.”
